NEW SEASON! NEW LEAGUE!!!

after playing for 6 years in Chiking League, we have decided to go for new challenges, and opted to join a NEW league - the Active League.

Just been to the pre-season meeting and found out that there will be Koreans, Japanese, a new English team, as well as teams with CURRENT PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS. 2 ex-chiking league teams will also be joining: INFINITY, OUR TEAM.

This is going to be interesting!

Our current 24 man strong line up. Registration is still open.

Possibly the final appearance of our red shirt...

QRE87 is going to have a new team jersey this year in about 2 weeks time. Let's have a recap of our RED shirts bought 3 seasons ago, appearing in one of our friendly in January this year at King's Park.

One against Many.

How many players are there in a team?
10 plus 1 goalkeeper.
with half the team going up against our striker, we have to ask ourselves...
"Where is our support?"

Our long haired team mates

The same Ma On Shan Pitch, only 4 months ago. League game.

Goal in front and One on One!!!

only one defender left before reaching the goal, did Wongkit score? Go! Wongkit! Go!

the last post with my photos, back to Alice' collection tomorrow.

wrong footed...demonstration

perfectly demonstrated here by Horace.

skill & support

one on one, there's little problem for a sharp striker/ midfield...
when sandwiched between opponents, to break free requires huge amount of stamina, speed, and skill...or with a little help from your friend...
breaking free and leaving behind two opponents.

Persistent

The pink no. 32 was about to receive the ball. Harry, our Centre Back ran in and prepare to do an interception.
Sensing the urgency, instead of capturing the ball, Harry decided to ruin our opponent's possession.
still not able to neutralize the situation, Harry has already renewed the tackle. Pls note from the 2nd photo to the 3rd, you need to have immense agility, one key aspect of being a defender in order to do this.

Pre-Season Game vs Pennisula...defeated 2-5

our opponents was the champion for the A-League, and there was a definite distance between the 2 teams.
...important thing was we managed to score some very nice goals and neutralize their attack at times.

if the whole team play as one, I think we can get there one day.

Of the 5 goals we conceded, summarize as follows:
1. Penalty (controversial)
2. Striker beating our defender
3. Long distance shot towards top corner. (GK momentarily failed to react)
4. Long distance shot outside box, and we were too late to close him down.
5. Defense mistake in controlling the ball instead of clearing the ball at penalty spot.

all 5 we might have avoided...

will start posting photos of last week game, taken by your part time photographer, me.
